IRVING, Texas – If tradition dictates action, Scottie Scheffler will be buying a lot of lemonades and iced teas Saturday afternoon.
One day after making the cut in his first career PGA Tour start, the 17-year-old aced the 221-yard second hole with a 5-iron.
The reigning U.S. Junior Amateur champion, Scheffler opened with scores of 71-68 at the Byron Nelson Championship.
Starting on the back nine Saturday, he struggled in his first 10 holes, carding just one birdie and four bogeys before making his hole-in-one. He wound up shooting a 1-under-par 69.
