RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – An emotional Haley Moore fought through a tough finish to become the only amateur to make the cut Friday at the ANA Inspiration.
Moore, a 16-year-old junior at nearby San Pasqual High School, scrambled to a closing bogey through the palm trees behind the 18th hole to make the cut on the number.
“My first time ever in a major tournament, and I never would have thought I would make a cut,” Moore said.
Moore earned her way into the competition, claiming the last spot in the field by winning the ANA Inspiration Junior Challenge. She shot 73 and 74 over the first two rounds of the ANA Inspiration. There were six amateurs in the field.
“I'm proud of myself and proud of my mom for always sticking up for me, being there for me no matter what happens,” Moore said.
