Bevacqua named 2015 World Golf Foundation chairman

PGA of America CEO Pete Bevacqua has been named chairman of the World Golf Foundation's board of directors for 2015.

He takes over for PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem, who served as president in 2014.

“Since joining the PGA of America over two years ago, I’ve enjoyed working closely with leaders of the game’s most influential organizations to create a more collaborative industry,” Bevacqua said in a statement. “It’s an honor to be selected as Chairman and I look forward to furthering our work in creating greater accessibility and sustainability to ensure golf’s continued vitality.”

Founded in 1993, the World Golf Foundation "is a nonprofit organization that develops and supports initiatives that positively impact lives through the game of golf and its traditional values." The WGF is responsible for overseeing the World Golf Hall of Fame as well as grow-the-game iniatives like the The First Tee and Golf 20/20.

In addition to Becacqua and Finchem, the list of WGF board members includes USGA executive director Mike Davis, chief executive of the R&A Peter Dawson, European Tour chief George O'Grady, LPGA commissioner Mike Whan and Masters executive director Will Jones.

Bevacqua has served as CEO of the PGA of America since 2012.
