Blue Bay unveiled as LPGA's second stop in China

The 32nd tournament marked as a TBA Asian event on the LPGA schedule released before year’s start was unveiled Wednesday by the tour.

The inaugural Blue Bay LPGA will be played Oct. 23-26 at Lake Blue Bay Golf Course on Hainan Island in China. It’s a 72-hole event co-sanctioned by the China Golf Association with a $2 million purse. An 81-player field will include 15 China LPGA Tour pros.

The tour’s expanding fall Asian swing now includes six events, two in China. The Reignwood Classic in Beijing opens the fall swing overseas. Overall, the LPGA schedule now includes eight Asian events.

IMG will operate the tournament.
