Burke to captain 2016 U.S. Curtis Cup team

Robin Burke has been selected to captain the 2016 U.S. Curtis Cup team.

The 39th matches, which pit eight players apiece from the United States and Great Britain and Ireland, will be held June 10-12, 2016, at Dun Laoghaire Golf Club near Dublin.

Burke has played in more than 35 USGA individual championships and represented the U.S. on the 1998 team. She is married to two-time major champion, World Golf Hall of Fame member and former Ryder Cup captain Jack Burke Jr.

“Hopefully this new responsibility will provide me equal talking time over dinner,” she joked in a USGA release. “I am excited about calling my friend Ellen Port and seeing if she kept good notes. I look forward to taking it all in.”

The Americans won this year’s event, 13-7, and hold an overall 28-7-3 advantage in the biennial match.
