DJ officially commits to Farmers Insurance Open

Dustin Johnson's return to the PGA Tour officially is set.

Tournament officials at the Farmers Insurance Open confirmed Friday that Johnson has committed to play in the event Feb. 5-8 at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif.

The event will mark Johnson's first competitive start since missing the cut at the RBC Canadian Open in July. Shortly after, he announced a leave of absence to address "personal issues," although a report indicated the 30-year-old had been suspended by the PGA Tour for failing multiple drug tests, including two for cocaine. The Tour denied that Johnson had been suspended, and in an interview this week with ESPN, Johnson denied ever failing a Tour-administered drug test.

Johnson had previously indicated that he would not return to action until fiancee Paulina Gretzky gave birth to the couple's first child. Their son, Tatum, was born Monday near Los Angeles.
