Day on achieving No. 1: 'It doesn’t feel like much at all'

ATLANTA – For Jason Day, there was no epiphany moment on Monday when the realization of a lifelong dream descended on him.

With his victory on Sunday at the BMW Championship, Day ascended to No. 1 in the World Golf Ranking, a dream he’d harbored since he was a kid.

“It doesn’t feel like much at all. To be honest, it really doesn’t,” said Day on Wednesday at the Tour Championship. “It’s not like that one big shining moment or one big sense of relief that, oh, I’ve done it now.”

Day said he spent Monday relaxing with his son, Dash, and preparing for this week’s season finale, where he can claim the season-long FedEx Cup.

He did, however, capture the moment for future reference.

“I took a screen shot on my phone,” he said. “Just in case I ever have to tell Dash at one point, ‘Yeah, your old man was the best in the world at one point.”
