Day 'felt absolutely hammered' after drink with Arnie

ORLANDO, Fla. – Every PGA Tour player has his own favorite Arnold Palmer memory.

Jason Day’s came last year, when he gutted out a victory at Bay Hill and took pictures with his family and the King on the 18th green. He met a woman Wednesday who had the moment memorialized on a T-shirt.

But even more memorable may have been what happened afterward. Joined by his longtime agent, Bud Martin, and Palmer’s close friend, former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, Day enjoyed a celebratory drink in Palmer’s living room.

“I felt like I was drinking a whole bottle of Ketel One, because that’s obviously his favorite thing,” Day said. “I was on the Golf Channel (later) and felt absolutely hammered. I was sitting down and I’m dehydrated, I had a drink with him, and I’m going up there and I don’t know what I’m saying on the Golf Channel, but hopefully it turned out something decent.

“We had a special moment at his place and just winning this tournament, because it’s such a big event for us.”
