PALM HARBOR, Fla. – For a young player, Harris English has a pretty strong history on Innisbrook’s Copperhead Course.
It was only three years ago when he won the Southern Amateur here.
“I was staying with one of my buddies from high school and we had a great week,” English said in advance of the Valspar Championship. “I remember shooting 66 in the last round to win.”
Now a two-time PGA Tour champion, he feels like his game has matured a long way since that week.
“I feel like I’m a much smarter player now,” said English, who finished T-7 here last year. “I’m not as aggressive off the tee and not going for broke every time.”
