Final-round play resumes at the 96th PGA

Play resumed in the final round of the 96th PGA Championship at 2:44 p.m. ET, nearly two hours after it was suspended because of rain.

PGA officials blew the horn at 12:53 p.m., and pulled players off the course at Valhalla Golf Club, where one inch of rain fell in less than 45 minutes. Entire greens and large portions of fairways were covered in water.

The final group of Rory McIlroy and Bernd Wiesberger was originally slated to begin at 2:55 p.m., but is now scheduled for a 4:19 p.m. start. In order to avoid a Monday finish, officials have reduced tee time starts by one minute, to nine minutes between groups. Sunset in Louisville, Ky., is at 8:42 p.m.

It’s the second time that rain has suspended play, doing so for 45 minutes Friday morning.
