Hello, Augusta! Fourteen headed to Masters via OWGR

Fourteen players have punched their tickets to Augusta via the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Among the players not already eligible who secured their spot at the year’s first major: Hideki Matsuyama (23rd in OWGR), Miguel Angel Jimenez (37th) and Rickie Fowler (40th). Last week’s Nelson Mandela Championship and Thailand Golf Championship were the final events that will contribute to the OWGR in 2013.

The full list of 14 players: Matsuyama, Thomas Bjorn (24th), Jamie Donaldson (26th), Victor Dubuisson (32nd), Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano (35th), Jimenez (37th), Francesco Molinari (38th), Fowler, Matteo Manassero (43rd), David Lynn (45th), Thongchai Jaidee (46th), Peter Hanson (48th), Joost Luiten (49th) and Branden Grace (50th).

That pushes the Masters field to 90 players, which includes those who won FedEx Cup events, advanced to the Tour Championship and finished in the top 30 on the money list.

As for this week’s movers, Sergio Garcia’s first victory of the season rocketed him from No. 19 to No. 10 in the latest rankings. It was his fifth consecutive finish of 11th or better.

Meanwhile, Dawie van der Walt, who won the European Tour’s Nelson Mandela Championship, jumped from 337th to 194th in the world.

The top 10 in the world remained largely unchanged: world No. 1 Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Matt Kuchar, Steve Stricker, Zach Johnson and Garcia. Brandt Snedeker fell from No. 10 to No. 13.
