NAPLES, Fla. – The ANA Inspiration is the new Kraft Nabisco on the LPGA’s schedule.
All Nippon Airways, a Japanese carrier, will be the new title sponsor for the season's first major championship after signing a five-year deal, LPGA officials revealed Tuesday with the release of their 2015 schedule. Kraft Nabisco’s long-time sponsorship of the championship ended with this year’s event. The ANA Inspiration will continue to be played at Mission Hills, home to the event since 1972.
The ANA Inspiration is part of 33 official events on the new schedule released Tuesday with prize money totaling $61.6 million, the richest total purse payout in LPGA history. It’s 34 total events with the Solheim Cup. That’s up from 23 events and total purses of $40 million in 2011.
The Coates Invitational in Ocala, Fla., is the newest addition to the LPGA schedule. It’s the new season opener scheduled Jan. 28-31. The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship makes its debut taking over the LPGA Championship as a women’s major. The Women’s PGA will inherit the records and history of the LPGA Championship.
