Henderson (69) rallies to take low amateur honors

PINEHURST, N.C. – Canadian Brooke Mackenzie Henderson rallied Sunday at the U.S. Women’s Open to take away low amateur honors from Australian Minjee Lee.

Henderson, 16, shot a 1-under-par 69 at Pinehurst No. 2 to finish tied for 10th, which earns her an exemption into next year’s U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster (Pa.) Country Club.

“I was almost intimidated the first couple days, and then as I got playing, I started hitting the ball really well,” Henderson said.
