NASSAU, Bahamas – There were eight players tied for the lead on the back nine Friday at the Hero World Challenge. The leaderboard thinned near the end, but there are still six players tied or within one shot of the top spot entering the weekend.
Jordan Spieth, Bill Haas and Jimmy Walker lead the way at 11 under. Patrick Reed, Chris Kirk and Bubba Watson are one back. Three others – Matt Kuchar, Zach Johnson and Paul Casey – are at 8 under, which means half of the 18-man field is no worse than three back.
"The scores are just really good, which makes for an exciting weekend," Haas said. "I'm just happy to hold my own weight for two days."
It could have been even more crowded near the top. Brooks Koepka led by one on the ninth hole, but pulled his tee shot into trouble and eventually made double bogey. He finished at 7 under, along with Dustin Johnson and Adam Scott, both of whom also made a double in Round 2.
