HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Following his best finish in a major championship last week at the Masters Charley Hoffman arrived at the RBC Heritage with renewed confidence for the remainder of the year’s Grand Slam events.

Hoffman, who began the final round paired with eventual champion Jordan Spieth at Augusta National, closed with a 74 to tie for ninth, his first top-10 finish in a major.

“I wouldn’t say a ton has changed, I just executed our game plan which has a lot to do with that golf course,” Hoffman said. “I hit a lot of quality golf shots, and it’s a second-shot golf course.”

Hoffman said he became tentative on the greens on the weekend and that cost him a chance to put pressure on Spieth, but was still pleased with his finish.

“I learned I can play well enough to get in contention at a major, and I’ll definitely take some confidence out of that,” he said. “I didn’t know how I was going to react. I thought I handled it great.”
