NAPLES, Fla. – All of sudden Cristie Kerr’s golf buddy is president-elect of the United States.
Kerr, the defending champion at this week’s CME Group Tour Championship, says she hasn’t been able to connect with Donald Trump to congratulate him yet, but she remains a devoted friend and supporter and an honorary member at his golf clubs.
“I just still can't believe he's president-elect of the United States,” Kerr said Tuesday at Tiburon Golf Club. “Every time I say it it's like, `Wow. Really?’”
Kerr is following the nation’s reactions.
“It's just so shocking all these protests around the country,” Kerr said. “It's a fair and square election. Everyone got to vote. Just let's just move on and make the country better. Hopefully, he can do that. Hopefully, he can do the things that he says he's going to do.
“The person that I've known over the years, he always does what he says he's going to do, and he surrounds himself with really smart people. I'm really happy for him. I hope people will grow to understand that he is a man of his word and he can get things done. Hopefully, he'll be the CEO of this country like he's been the CEO of his businesses.”
