Kingsbarns to host 2017 Women's British Open

Kingsbarns was picked Friday to host its first major championship at the 2017 Ricoh Women's British Open. The 14-year-old course is located along the North Sea just a short drive from St. Andrews.

While short on history, Kingsbarns has received plenty of praise from players and critics. The Kyle Phillips design has hosted the Alfred Dunhill Links since 2001, and Open qualifying for the men and women.

The 2015 Women’s British Open heads to Turnberry’s Ailsa course, and Woburn will be the host in 2016.
