PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Lydia Ko celebrated her rise to No. 1 in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings this week with each of the 120 players in the field at the Pure Silk Bahamas Classic.
Ko left a jumbo-sized Whittaker’s chocolate bar in the locker of every player competing at the Ocean Club Golf Course. The 17-year-old Kiwi told tournament officials she wanted to thank her fellow pros for the support they’ve shown her as a young pro. Whittaker’s chocolate is made in New Zealand, where she grew up.
Ko tagged the candy bars, signing them with a thank you note.
“This is where I made my first start as a rookie last year, and I just wanted to thank everyone for being super nice to me all year,” Ko said.
