Koepka accepts special temporary membership

After a tie for 21st last week in New Orleans, Brooks Koepka has officially accepted special temporary membership on the PGA Tour.

The finish at TPC Louisiana pushed Koepka past the FedEx Cup point total of the 150th-ranked player last season, and as a result the 23-year-old can now accept an unlimited number of sponsor exemptions for the 2013-14 season.

Koepka tied for third at the season-opening Frys.com Open, but was still seven points shy of membership after exhausting his allotment of sponsor invites. He earned a spot in last week's field thanks to a 64 at the Monday qualifier, and made the most of his opportunity.

While Koepka is still not a regular Tour member, he would become one with a victory - the path to status used last year by Jordan Spieth. Outside of that, Koepka can still solidify his card for the 2014-15 season via the non-member FedEx Cup points list or non-member money list. In nine starts this season, Koepka has racked up 320 FedEx Cup points and $460,687.

Last year, Koepka played primarily on the European Challenge Tour, where he won three times. He was a three-time All-American selection while playing collegiately at Florida State.
