GURNEE, Ill. – Australian Minjee Lee juggled strong emotions this weekend following her brother’s victory at the U.S. Junior Amateur.

Min Woo Lee, 17, followed in her sister’s footsteps winning a USGA junior championship. Min Woo won the U.S. Junior Amateur on Saturday, four years after Minjee won the U.S. Girls’ Junior. They are the first brother-sister combo to win those two USGA junior titles.

“It’s pretty cool,” Minjee said. “It’s always going to be part of history, that we were the first brother and sister to do that. It’s pretty special that it’s always going to be there.”

It made for a wild Saturday for Minjee, 19, who followed Min Woo’s progress in the clubhouse through the first 18 holes but then had to go out and play a fourball match for Australia at the UL International Crown as Min Woo was playing his second 18. Minjee insisted on getting updates from the Australian team liaison as she was playing her match.

“I was a little nervous for him, and excited for him, too,” Minjee said. “And then I’m trying to play at the same time. All in all, they were good emotions.”

Minjee was on the course when she learned Min Wood had won. After Minjee’s match was suspended by weather, she called her brother to congratulate him.

“I was super excited for him,” she said.
