American Stacy Lewis moved into position to claim her fourth victory this season.
With a 2-under-par 70 in Friday's third round at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, Lewis leads the season finale for the Ladies European Tour at 11 under overall, two shots ahead of Thailand’s Pornanong Phatlum (69) and three ahead of Spain’s Carlota Ciganda (73), Scotland’s Vikki Laing (69) and Italy’s Diana Luna (69). Lewis is the highest ranked player in the field at No. 3 in the world.
''It's always hard to follow up a day like I had yesterday, especially on the greens,'' Lewis told reporters. ''It was the kind of day that could have been worse and it could have been better. But overall, I'm right where I need to be going into tomorrow.
''I just didn't hit it quite as close. Didn't have as many good opportunities at birdie. But still hit a ton of greens and, if I can just get a couple more putts to fall early tomorrow, I think I'll be in a good place.''
Lewis, who won three LPGA titles this season, is a strong front-runner. She has closed out a victory five of the last six times she has led or shared the lead of an LPGA event after 54 holes over the last two seasons. Defending champ Shanshan Feng (71) sits ninth, nine shots back.
