PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Stacy Lewis is back on Twitter.
Lewis, the highest ranked American in the world at No. 3 in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings, never shut down her Twitter account, but she decided to take a break from it after feeling the backlash over tweets she made when Shanshan Feng beat her at the Reignwood Classic in China in October.
Lewis took Chinese fans to task for rooting against her and intimated she got beat by a lucky bounce.
Lewis, one of the most candid and thoughtful interviews in the women’s game, started tweeting again Tuesday night.
“At the end of last year, I just needed some time to myself, and I needed to figure a few things out off the golf course,” Lewis said. “The last few years, it's really been a learning experience, and I needed to kind of evaluate what had happened, and how I was going to learn from it, and move on, and that's what I did this off-season. So, part of that was I needed to get back on Twitter. I needed to get connected with the fans again, and really for the tour, I know I need to be there for that, too.
“I'm going to do a little better job, do it a little different this time, but I got a great response last night, so I'm excited about getting going with it again.”
