ORLANDO, Fla. – Never let it be said that Davis Love III doesn’t have a sense a humor, even when it comes to perhaps the most difficult chapter in his career.
On Saturday at Bay Hill, Love tweeted a picture of himself joking as if he was letting the air out of the tires on Ian Poulter’s Ferrari (he didn’t let the air out), with the caption, “I will pay (Poulter) back for those putts at Medinah.”
Love was referring to the Englishman’s stellar play at the 2012 Ryder Cup when Love captained the losing U.S. team. When he was shown the tweet after his third round at the Arnold Palmer Invitational Poulter, one of the most active PGA Tour players on Twitter, could only smile.
“I love him even more now,” Poulter said. “He needs to do more than let the air out of my tires. The Ryder Cup is coming up quickly.”
