The LPGA stop in Mobile, Ala., has a new title sponsor.
The tour announced Tuesday that the event will be played as the Airbus Mobile Bay LPGA Classic when the women return to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail’s Magnolia Grove Crossings Course May 16-19.
Airbus signed a one-year contract to sponsor, but the aircraft manufacturer is in talks to extend the deal, according to AL.com. The event has been supported by a community of local sponsors in the past.
Airbus is building its first U.S. based assembly plant in Mobile.
“The event in Mobile has become a fixture on the LPGA tour schedule, and we look forward to working with Airbus to continue a first-class event,” LPGA commissioner Mike Whan said in a release. “The southern hospitality of Mobile sponsors, volunteers, and fans is second to none on the tour!”
