Masters weather forecast: Windy start, chilly finish

AUGUSTA, Ga. – It’s the weather, it changes on a dime. But this week at Augusta National, there’s a high probability that players will monitor forecasts more often than usual.

Here is the Wednesday afternoon synopsis, directly from weather types on site: “High clouds will continue to increase heading into this afternoon as a cold front approaches. This will bring mostly cloudy skies by this evening, but dry weather is expected until later tonight. Otherwise, highs will reach the lower 70s by late afternoon with breezy southeast winds. The front moves through tonight, bringing showers and isolated thunderstorms to the area, mainly between 2-8 AM Thursday morning. Rainfall from this system looks to average 0.15-0.30.

“The rest of Thursday will feature partly cloudy and blustery conditions, as winds gust up to 25-30 mph. A slight chance for a shower or two exists Thursday night as another shot of colder air arrives to the region. This will lead to sunny, windy and cooler conditions on Friday and Saturday. The wind will finally weaken Saturday night, allowing for the possibility of frost Sunday morning with lows in the 30s. A pleasant Sunday looks to be taking shape with sunny skies and light winds as high pressure settles overhead.”
