WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. – Hang on to the following information, because it could easily win a few 19th-hole wagers.

Since 2009, only one player has shot more than two rounds of 61 on the PGA Tour – and this player has done so a remarkable four times.

If you guessed Tiger or Phil or any other single-named superstar, you’re wrong.

The correct answer is Troy Matteson, who added a 9-under 61 to his impressive single-round portfolio in the second round of The Greenbrier Classic on Friday.

“It was unlike any day I've had this year,” he said after a round that included nine birdies and nine pars. “I just haven't been getting it in the hole all year, and to have a day like this really kind of turns things around. But I've always been a streaky putter. When I get hot, it usually falls in from just about anywhere and that's one of those days today.”

Matteson previously posted 61 during the second and third rounds of the 2009 Frys.com Open and first round of the 2012 John Deere Classic.
