LOS ANGELES – Jason Allred faces a potential dilemma.
Allred, 33, who played his way into the Northern Trust Open as a Monday qualifier, closed solidly Sunday with a 3-under-par 68, good for a tie for third place.
The $388,600 he took home is more money than he has won in his entire Web.com Tour career.
Oddly, Allred says he doesn't have the status he needs to get into the next Web.com Tour event, but he is eligible to play in the Honda Classic in two weeks. Allred's top-10 finish Sunday at Riviera earned him that. It’s not a simple choice, though. Allred's wife, Kimberly, is due with the couple's third child the week of the Honda Classic.
“I'm far from perfect as a husband and dad, but I try to make my family my priority all the time,” Allred said. “I can't wait to talk to my wife, and we'll have fun figuring out what that looks like. I don't think I'd miss my child being born for anything, but, you know, who knows? Maybe we can do both, we'll see.”
