Monty set to make European Tour start No. 600

This week, Colin Montgomerie will become the seventh player in history to make 600 appearances on the European Tour

Montgomerie, 51, is in the field for this week’s Turkish Airlines Open, which is (fittingly) being played on his Montgomerie Maxx Royal course in Antalya.

Since his debut as an amateur in 1986, Montgomerie has won 31 European Tour titles, been named Golfer of the Year four times, appeared on eight Ryder Cup teams and won eight Order of Merit titles. His career earnings on the circuit have surpassed $30 million (€24,547,785).

The only other players who have eclipsed the 600-start mark: Sam Torrance (706), Barry Lane (684), Miguel Angel Jimenez (641), Roger Chapman (619), Eamonn Darcy (610) and Malcolm Mackenzie (605).
