Oosthuizen fit, helps provide lone International point

INCHEON, South Korea – It’s been a dramatic turnaround for Louis Oosthuizen, who two weeks ago withdrew from the Tour Championship with a strained muscle in his right knee but on Thursday provided the only International highlight at the Presidents Cup.

Oosthuizen teamed with fellow South African Branden Grace to claim the International team’s only point on Thursday, a 3-and-2 victory over Matt Kuchar and Patrick Reed.

International captain Nick Price demonstrated his confidence in Oosthuizen by sending him out first on Friday to play Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson, and the Internationals will need continued production from Oosthuizen if they hope to keep the match close.

Oosthuizen said he’s been having therapy on his knee every day and that it hasn’t been an issue. He also added that he doesn’t think it will be a problem if Price needs him to play both sessions on Saturday.

“I said to Price, you do what’s best for the team,” Oosthuizen said. “If I have to go out and suck it up and play 36 [holes on Saturday] and put my body on the line it’s all good.”
