Park wins extra $7,500 off father in Singapore

It's a cash total 1/28th the size of her $210,000 winner's check, but it probably holds a greater value - if we're talking sentiment.

Inbee Park revealed after her win at the HSBC Women's Champions in Singapore on Sunday that she was spurred to victory on a golf course she didn't particularly care for thanks to an interesting bet with her father.

“I had a bet with him because I didn’t really like this – it’s a tough golf course, so it’s hard to make birdies," Park said during the trophy ceremony. "So he was telling me, ‘Every birdie you make, I’ll give you $500.’ So that was extra money I made this week."

There had to be some kind of catch, right?

"And I said, ‘If I make bogeys, I’ll pay [him] $1,000," Park added. "I was really trusting myself that I was going to shoot under par.”

At 15 under, she did. In fact, she didn't drop a shot all week, carding 15 birdies against zero bogeys. That means Park just walked away with an extra $7,500 courtesy of her father.

Even more impressive, the former world No. 1 and current No. 2 hasn't made a bogey in her last five competitive rounds, playing those 90 holes 22 under par.

Asked later after the ceremony if she was going to make her dad pay up right away, Park told reporters: "I don't think he will pay me today. He ran out of money since yesterday. "
