PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Gerina Piller moved into position to give golf something special this Sunday.

A husband and wife double is possible.

With Piller’s husband, Martin, leading the News Sentinel Open on the Web.com Tour, the Pillers are both in position to win on the same day.

“It’s pretty awesome,” said Gerina, who is four shots off the lead at the Wegmans LPGA Championship. “I'm excited for him, more so for him. He's been playing great golf.

“What great news to be done, and come to the scoring tent, and someone saying he's leading. So, just really excited that we're in this situation and just hope for the best tomorrow.”

Martin shot a 67 Saturday to take a one-shot lead in Knoxville, Tenn. Gerina shot a 69.

Martin, 28, is a two-time winner on the Web.com Tour. Gerina, 29, is trying to make her first LPGA title a major championship.

“I usually talk to Martin in the morning, when we wake up, and he sends me a text when he heads to the tee and vice versa,” Gerina said. “I probably freak out more than he does, so he's probably going to be cool as a cucumber, and I'm probably going to be stressing out all day tomorrow.”
