Poulter’s youngest child, 3-year-old Joshua, became ill on Wednesday night and was diagnosed with pneumonia. Doctors administered an IV of antibiotics and put Joshua on a nebulizer.
“He’s gotten a little better,” said Poulter following a second-round 70 that moved him to 7 under par. “He had a smile on his face, which is good.”
Poulter has gotten off to a solid start in 2015, finishing tied for third at the Honda Classic and 24th last week at Innisbrook despite a third-round 75.
“I can’t make him better. I’m on the golf course for 4 1/2 hours,” Poulter said. “Obviously when I get off the course I want to get home and I want to be there with him. I can kind of switch it on and off.”
