PINEHURST, N.C. – If 54-hole leader Martin Kaymer falters during the U.S. Open final round, there might be a pair of power players ready to pounce.
While the U.S. Open often rewards the plodders and grinders, it might take a few big hitters known for providing birdies in bunches to chase down Kaymer from behind.
“I’ve yet to feel like I’ve played a great round of golf,” Johnson explained. “It’s in there. Hopefully tomorrow is my great round. I’ve been playing pretty well on Sundays this year. Hopefully I continue that.”
