TURNBERRY, Scotland – Morgan Pressel holed a 5-wood from 197 yards for an albatross at the 14th hole Thursday at the Ricoh Women’s British Open.
Pressel made a rare 2 on a par 5.
How rare is it? It’s the first albatross on the LPGA this year. A year ago, there were four of them in LPGA events, most posted in any single year in LPGA history. Lexi Thompson had the last one before Pressel, scoring hers at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational late last season.
Pressel opened with a 2-over-par 74 at Trump Turnberry. She had quite the wild scorecard with one albatross, three birdies, four bogeys and two double bogeys.
