Quicken Loans has signed on as the title sponsor for Tiger Woods’ Washington, D.C.-area event through 2017, it was announced Monday.
In a news conference Monday, Woods said that he hopes Congressional will serve as the host site on a biennial basis (2016, 2018, 2020), and that club members’ votes are due this weekend.
Woods said he is looking at alternate sites for the odd-numbered years, including TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm and Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, and that it was important to keep the event in the area.
“I’d like to keep it in the D.C. community,” he said. “That’s where we started and where we’d like to keep it.”
AT&T had sponsored the tournament since its inception in 2007, but will now move into a founding sponsor role.
