SAN DIEGO – The U.S. Ryder Cup task force met on Monday in San Diego but a source familiar with the meeting told GolfChannel.com that no announcement regarding the 2016 captain should be expected until the spring.
“We did have a meeting that went incredibly well and built off of the momentum of our first meeting,” PGA of America chief executive Pete Bevacqua told Golf Channel’s Tim Rosaforte. “The process is not yet complete but I feel I can speak for everyone on the task force when I say that we are all excited about the direction of our discussions.”
The PGA has become increasingly tight lipped about the task force, which first met in December, and has told the 11 members – who include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Tom Lehman, Steve Stricker, Davis Love III, Jim Furyk, Raymond Floyd and Rickie Fowler – to limit their comments to the media about the meetings.
A source familiar with the meetings, however, said that the task force has had “several productive meetings” but not to expect any type of announcement until the spring.
