Reed cracks top 10 in OWGR after Barclays win


Patrick Reed may not be a top-5 player yet, but he's up to a career-best ninth in the Official World Golf Ranking after his win Sunday at The Barclays.

With his fifth-career Tour victory and first since January 2015, Reed moved up five spots, from 14th to ninth. Adam Scott moved up one spot, from seventh to sixth, with a T-4 finish at Bethpage Black.

The top-10 this week: Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Henrik Stenson, Rory McIlroy, Scott, Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler, Reed and Justin Rose.

Thomas Pieters won the Made in Denmark on the European Tour, and he is now safely inside the top 50. Pieters jumped from 54th to 41st in what has been a strong three weeks. He finished fourth at the Olympics, second at the Czech Masters and first in Denmark.

Other players who made big moves this week – Emiliano Grillo (37 to 25), Ryan Moore (50 to 43), Gary Woodland (61 to 52), Tony Finau (82 to 71), Sean O'Hair (135 to 77), Bradley Dredge (105 to 85) and Jason Kokrak (121 to 100).

Tiger Woods, who has been out of action for over a year, is now 696th.
