Reed WDs Nelson, but no baby just yet

RSS

IRVING, TexasPatrick Reed has withdrawn from this week’s Byron Nelson Championship, but the first child for he and wife Justine hasn’t arrived yet.

The couple is expecting a baby girl with a due date of May 26, but Justine’s doctor advised that she not travel this week and Patrick decided to remain at home, as well.

Justine served as Patrick’s full-time caddie in 2012 and ’13, including during his first PGA Tour victory at last year’s Wyndham Championship. Since the beginning of this year, though, her brother, Kessler Karain, has been on the bag, looping for Reed in wins at both the Humana Challenge and WGC-Cadillac Championship.

Reed posted scores of 74-79 to miss the cut at last week’s Players Championship.

As first alternate, Alex Cejka replaced Reed in the Nelson field.
