Adam Barr will become the senior director of communications for the USGA later this month, according to a Golfweek report.
Barr, 53, was a business and equipment reporter for Golf Channel from 1997-2009. Since 2010, he has served as president of Miura Golf, a Japanese club manufacturer known for its forged irons.
The position within the USGA has been vacant since March, when Joe Goode left his post as managing director of communications as part of an "internal restructuring."
According to the report, Barr confirmed that he has accepted the position and will begin his new role on Nov. 17.
