Report: PGA task force to include Tiger, Phil and Rickie

The PGA of America will unveil its Ryder Cup task force on Tuesday, a list that will include the likes of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk, Raymond Floyd, Steve Stricker, Tom Lehman and Davis Love III, according to a story in Golf World.

The task force will examine the entire Ryder Cup process, from how and when the teams and captains are selected to the process and schedule during the week of the matches, PGA president Ted Bishop told last week.

Bishop said the task force will consist of 10 to 12 members and include former captains, like Floyd, Love and Lehman; current players, like Woods and Mickelson, who were reported earlier by; and PGA officials.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Paul Azinger, the last U.S. winning captain in 2008 and the man mentioned most frequently as the next possible captain, is not on the task force. Azinger told that the PGA of America asked him to be part of the panel, but he declined.

"I'm just not ready to sit down and jump on a task force," Azinger said to "I have a scheduled meeting with the PGA of America in early November and I just think it's too soon for me to commit to jumping on a task force."

The addition of Fowler on the task force rates as a mild surprise considering he is 25 years old and has played in just two Ryder Cups, but last week Bishop said the PGA wanted the task force to be as inclusionary as possible.
