Tiger Woods is notably absent from the Masters this week, but according to recent reports he might not be on the sideline for much longer.
Woods last played competitively in August, and last week he announced his withdrawal from the season's first major as he continues to recover from multiple back procedures. Over the last eight months, Woods has consistently reiterated that he has no timetable for his return to competition.
But last month he posted a video of himself hitting a 9-iron in a simulator, and Golf Channel insider Tim Rosaforte reports that Woods is now back to hitting drivers at Medalist Golf Club in Jupiter, Fla.
Woods said in his most recent website update that he is "hitting balls and training daily," but is not yet "physically ready" to return to the PGA Tour. Earlier this week his agent, Mark Steinberg, said that he "absolutely" expects Woods to tee it up at some point this year.
