Russia's Maria Verchenova has been informed by the International Olympic Committee that she will be allowed to compete in the Olympics.

The Russian delegation has been under intense scrutiny over doping allegations, leading the IOC to convene a three-person panel to determine the eligibility of each individual athlete. According to the International Golf Federation, Verchenova was given the all clear on Thursday.

"The IOC has notified the IGF and the Russian Olympic Committee that Ms. Maria Verchenova's entry to the women's individual golf event at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games has been confirmed," the IGF said in a statement.

Verchenova, 30, plays primarily on the Ladies' European Tour and is ranked No. 343 in the latest Rolex Rankings. She is No. 48 out of the 60 women who qualified for the Olympics and is the only Russian set to compete in golf on either the men's or women's side.
