Salas WDs from U.S. Women's Open with food poisoning

PINEHURST, N.C. – Lizette Salas withdrew from U.S. Women’s Open before the start of the second round on Friday morning.

The USGA said Salas cited food poisoning as the reason for her withdrawal. Her management team said she also aggravated a hip injury, and she’s going to fly home to Los Angeles to have it examined.

Salas opened with a 78. She was scheduled to go off at 7:51 a.m. with Paula Creamer and Na Yeon Choi.
