PARAMUS, N.J. – Adam Scott entered the third round of The Barclays with a share of the lead. He exited with a share of 23rd place.
It was a brutal day for the erstwhile No. 1-ranked player, who carded a double-bogey and three bogeys against just a single birdie in a disappointing 4-over 75.
“I played the complete opposite of yesterday,” he said in comparison with Friday’s 65. “I drove in the rough on most holes. When I found the fairways, I didn’t take advantage with good shots in. It was just off today.”
Scott’s statistics for the round reflected his poor scorecard. He hit just 6 of 14 fairways and 12 of 18 greens, needing 33 total putts.
