Scott's caddie auditions continue in Australia

Adam Scott’s caddie auditions will continue this week in Australia, where the world No. 3 will have Mike Kerr carry his sticks for the Australian Open and next month’s Australian PGA.

Kerr is currently looping for Thorbjorn Olesen, a recent winner on the European Tour, but the veteran caddie has also been on the bag for Ernie Els, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Lee Westwood. Scott described borrowing another player’s caddie as a “bit of a sensitive thing.”

In the past few events, Scott has also tried out David Clark and Eddie Gardino.

“I think it’s good timing for me that I’ve got a bit of time up my sleeve to not have to jump out there, make a decision and put someone on straight away,” Scott told reporters on Wednesday. “I’m trying to buy myself a little time to see exactly what I want because obviously Steve is such a strong character and unique caddie.

“I’m not looking to replace him; I think that would be the wrong way to go about it.”

Scott once borrowed Tiger Woods’ caddie Steve Williams during what was then known as the AT&T National in summer 2011. The pair ended up staying together for 3 ½ years, teaming up to win the 2013 Masters and reach No. 1 in the world.

Scott and Williams parted ways in September as the caddie looked to scale back his schedule.
