Snedeker defends Bubba: He's a 'great teammate'

ATLANTA – When Bubba Watson - who at seventh in the world is the top-ranked American not on the Ryder Cup team - was not named one of U.S. captain Davis Love III’s first three picks there was speculation that he was being bypassed because he wasn’t a team room favorite.

On Wednesday at the Tour Championship, Brandt Snedeker took a moment to correct what he called a “false narrative.”

“I don't know where everybody gets this idea that Bubba Watson is a bad teammate. He is probably one of the best teammates you could possibly have,” Snedeker said. “I want that out there for everybody to hear. Bubba Watson is a great teammate.”

Watson is still on Love’s radar as he inches closer to making his final pick on Sunday after the Tour Championship. The left-hander was among three players invited to play practice rounds on Sunday and Monday at Hazeltine National who aren’t on the team.

Justin Thomas and Daniel Berger also played practice rounds on Monday at Hazeltine National.
