South African Hobday dies at age 76


South Africa's Simon Hobday, whose worldwide victories included a major title on the PGA Tour Champions, died Thursday after a battle with cancer. He was 76.

Hobday won 17 times during a professional career that began in 1969, including twice on the European Tour. He also won five times on the senior circuit, notably outlasting Graham Marsh to win the 1994 U.S. Senior Open at Pinehurst No. 2.
