Streelman fulfills TOC prediction with late birdie run

KAPALUA, Hawaii – When Kevin Streelman walked off the course after the opening round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, he talked about the recent premature birth of his daughter Sophia and relayed a conversation he’d recently had with wife Courtney.

“I told her, ‘I’m either going to finish top-three or bottom-three based on my perspective,” Streelman said at the time.

What a prescient statement.

Three days later, a final-round 67 left him in a share of third place, fulfilling that prediction he’d given his wife.

“I just played really smart,” said Streelman, whose next event won’t be until the Waste Management Phoenix Open. “I drove it great all week. Kept the ball below the hole and drove some nice putts, especially those four [birdies] in a row there.”
