Stricker's game 'not as sharp as I would really like'

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Steve Stricker arrives at Augusta National for the year’s first major with exactly eight stroke play rounds on the PGA Tour in 2014, but as the veteran has proven in his career less is more.

“My game is not as sharp as I would really like to have it coming into here, but it never seems to be, even when I was playing full time,” Stricker said on Monday.

Stricker hasn’t been “full time” since 2012 when he played 19 events, and last year’s 13 starts were three more than he’d planned to play but he added three FedEx Cup playoff tournaments in the run up to the Presidents Cup.

Stricker said his schedule in 2014 will be similarly limited with 12 to 13 events, although he said unlike last year he will play the Open Championship and will likely skip the playoffs.
