HONOLULU – In last year’s edition of the Sony Open, Brian Stuard finished with a pair of 65s to claim a fifth-place result. This year, he’s picked up right where he left off.
Stuard has matched that number in each of his first two rounds this week, grabbing the early lead in search of his first career PGA Tour victory.
Clearly, there’s something about Waialae Country Club that fits his eye.
“I don’t know, I’ve been trying to figure it out,” he said. “I think it’s something to do with the greens. I feel comfortable on the greens. I feel like I read them pretty well and feel like I’m able to make some putts.”
Granted, his last start was nearly two full months ago, but Stuard is fresh off a solo second-place finish at the OHL Mayakoba Classic.
